The name "Enki" was used by the Sumerians to refer to the god responsible for the creation of human civilization, particularly law and communication. This same ancient figure is also found in Islamic culture associated with the prophet "Idris" mentioned in the Quran (19:56-57), also known as the Biblical character "Enoch" mentioned in Genesis 5:18-24. Enki is also related to the Greek "Hermes," the Egyptian "Osiris" and "Hermes Trismegistos" all figures associated with secret knowledge and the arts of civilization.
